Content Policy
Story Fan Maker is a fanfic generator rated PG-13 by default, with an optional T (Teen) rating, and no NSFW content at either rating. These rules apply to every request and every story, on every page and every plan. They exist so teen writers (13 and up) can use the site safely.
The PG-13 rating (default) and the optional T rating
- PG-13 (default). Every story is PG-13 unless you pick T, like a PG-13 film: clean language, with peril, action, sadness and mild conflict.
- T (Teen, optional). For readers 13 and up. T allows mild language (no strong swearing or slurs), non-graphic fights and heavier angst such as grief or loss. Everything below still applies to T in full.
- T is the highest rating. There is no mature or explicit option.
- No NSFW or sexual content of any kind at either rating, and no sexualised descriptions of anyone.
- Romance goes no further than holding hands, a hug or a sweet confession, and only between adult characters. This is the same at PG-13 and T.
- No romance at all when any character involved is under 18, or when the setting is a school with students. Those stories are about friendship, rivalry, adventure or everyday life.
- No graphic violence, gore or cruelty, and no detailed instructions for anything dangerous or illegal.
Content the fanfic generator refuses
- Real people. No stories about real people, including celebrities, streamers, athletes, politicians, classmates or anyone else who exists. This covers real-person fan fiction.
- Hate and harassment. No content that attacks people for who they are, and no stories written to bully or target someone.
- Self-harm and suicide. The generator will not write content that describes or encourages self-harm. If you are struggling, please talk to someone you trust. In the US you can call or text 988; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free, confidential helplines.
- Extreme violence. No torture, graphic injury or glorified violence.
- Copied text. No reproducing passages from published books, scripts, lyrics or other people's fan fiction. Describe characters and events in your own words; the generator writes new prose.
How the rules are enforced
Every request is checked by an automated filter before anything is written, and every story is checked again after it is generated. If either check finds a problem, the request is blocked and you see a short message instead of a story. A blocked request does not use a free story or a paid generation. Automated filters are not perfect, so we also review reports from readers. Accounts or devices that keep trying to get around the rules, or make a serious attempt to generate banned content, can be suspended.
The short list of banned requests is also on the acceptable use page, and the terms make these rules part of using the site.
Fan works and copyright
Fan fiction borrows characters and worlds that belong to their creators. You can use the generator to write your own new stories about the things you love, but the original characters, names and worlds remain the property of their owners, and nothing here gives you rights in them. Keep fan works non-commercial and credit the original creators when you share. This site does not name or promote any particular series, and the examples on it use original characters.
If you own a work and believe a story made with this site copies it or infringes your rights, email support@storyfanmaker.com with the subject "Copyright complaint". Include who you are, what work you own, where the story appears or a copy of the text, and a way to reach you. We will review it promptly and remove infringing material from anything we host.
Report a story
If you see a story made here that breaks these rules, email support@storyfanmaker.com with the subject "Content report", what you saw, and a link or a copy of the text. Reports are read by a person. You do not need an account to report.
Content policy questions
What rating are the stories?
PG-13 by default, with an optional T (Teen) rating, and never NSFW. T allows mild language, non-graphic fights and heavier angst. Action and emotions are fine at both; sexual content, graphic gore and cruelty are not.
Why is romance limited to hand-holding and hugs?
Because the site is rated PG-13 by default (T at most) and built to be safe for teen writers (13 and up). Keeping romance light keeps every story suitable for that audience.
Can I write about real people?
No. Stories about real people, including celebrities, streamers, athletes and people you know, are refused. This includes real-person fan fiction.
What happens if I break the rules?
The request is blocked and does not use a generation. Repeated or serious attempts can lead to the account or device being suspended.
How do I report a story or a copyright problem?
Email support@storyfanmaker.com with the subject "Content report" or "Copyright complaint", what you saw, and a link or a copy of the text. We review every report.
