This x reader fanfic generator writes reader-insert stories in the second person, so "you" walk into the scene and meet the character you choose. Type your own name into the Y/N box or leave it as Y/N. It is the same fanfic generator as the home page, preset to second person, with tips below for making a reader-insert feel personal.
Your fic will appear on this page.
Name your faves, pick a vibe and a trope, then hit Generate (or leave it all blank and hit Surprise me). It takes about half a minute, and you can read while it writes.

Lifetime: continue a story one chapter at a time. Each new chapter uses 1 generation. Series are saved in this browser only, so export anything you want to keep.
The characters and options in the form above become the character card for every chapter.

In a "character x reader" story, the reader is the main character. The narration says "you": you open the door, you notice the rain, you decide what to say. Writers usually leave the reader's name as Y/N ("your name") and sometimes use other short codes, such as H/C for hair colour, so that anyone can step into the role.
The trick is balance. The reader needs enough detail to feel present, but not so much that the story describes someone they are not. Good reader-insert stories focus on what "you" see, hear and feel, and leave appearance and backstory light.
Because the reader is "you", reader-insert stories feel close and personal. That makes the rating rules matter even more here. Whether you pick the default PG-13 or the optional T (Teen) rating, romance in an x reader story is light and only between adults: a held hand, a hug, a moment that makes you smile. If the character or the reader is under 18, the story is about friendship, adventure or rivalry instead. Stories about real people, including celebrities and online creators, are refused. The full rules are on the content policy page.
An example written for this page with an original character, showing second-person narration with Y/N left in. Your stories will differ.
Setup: Second person, Y/N left blank. You are the new apprentice at a map shop; the owner, Master Aldis, is gruff but secretly proud of you. Cozy, happy ending.
The bell over the door rings before you have even taken your coat off. Master Aldis does not look up from the counter.
"You're late, Y/N."
"It's six in the morning."
"Maps don't sleep." He slides a rolled sheet toward you. It is the coastline you spent all last week inking, the one you were sure he had thrown away. Now it is framed, and in the corner, in his careful old handwriting, are two words: Drawn by Y/N.
He clears his throat. "Hang it by the window. Customers should see good work."
It is a story written in the second person, so "you" are the main character. The reader slips into the story, with Y/N standing in for their name, and meets the character in the title.
Y/N stands for "your name". Readers mentally swap in their own name. Here you can type a name into the Y/N box and the story uses it, or leave the box empty to keep Y/N.
Only lightly and only between adults. A reader-insert story can be cosy or sweet, with romance at most a held hand or a hug, and none at all if a character is under 18.
No. Stories about real people, including celebrities and creators, are refused. Use original characters or a character you describe in your own words.
Not for free stories. The name is sent with the request so the story can use it, but free stories are not saved on our servers: the finished story, name included, is kept only in your browser.
